THINGS TO DO IN AND AROUND KESWICK
Keswick is a great place to explore, and a good starting point for exploring the rest of the Lake District. You can walk into town from Hazelwood and sample Keswick’s shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. The lake is a five minute walk from town and has woods and fells beyond. Some of our favourite activities in Keswick include:
Rowing at Derwentwater
No need to take the car from Hazelwood
Rowing on Derwentwater lake.
Launch cruise around the lake.
Pitch & putt (9 holes).
Theatre by the Lake.
Bike hire (and some excellent biking trails in Whinlatter forest).
Fitz Park – tennis, bowls, children’s playground.
Castlerigg stone circle.
The Puzzling Place – filled with optical illusions and all sorts. Good if it’s raining.
The Pencil Museum - better than it sounds!
The Keswick Museum - recently given the accolade ‘third strangest museum in the World!’
The Keswick Brewing Company - on Brewery Lane. Full brewery tours available but opening times vary – call 017687 80700.
